Drum Lessons

Our drum instructors teach rock, metal, jazz, funk, blues and many other styles. Drum language can be complex and our instructors will challenge any drummer with a wide variety of technical exercises designed to improve your speed and comfort. You do not have to purchase a drum kit to take lessons. Beginning students can learn with a drum pad and sticks. Students use our hybrid acoustic/electric drum set at their lessons and do not have to bring anything except their drum sticks.

(for ages 5 and up in Carrollwood, 8 and up in Dunedin)

What’s the #1 reason to study drums at Creative Keys Music School?

Our drum instructors are warm and friendly, and get to know each student and parent on a personal level. We work with you to craft a lesson plan that fits your individual needs and the student’s favorite type of music. Whether you’re playing in local bands, a seven year old taking their first lesson, or a fifty year old returning to the drums after many years, we’ll set goals to achieve your musical aspirations.

What styles of drumming do you teach?
Our drum instructors teach all styles, from rock and metal to pop, jazz, funk, world rhythms, EDM, country, blues and classical.

How qualified are your drum instructors?
Our drums & percussion instructors bring many years of professional performance, and a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience to your lessons. All instructors have the minimum qualifications for families to receive scholarship reimbursement from PEP, UA/FES, and many others.

What will I learn from drum lessons at Creative Keys Music School?
Our instructors challenge our students with wide-ranging technical exercises designed to improve speed and comfort. Drum language can be complex, and theory is encouraged. Students can bring in their favorite drum parts to learn in their lessons.

Do I need to purchase a drum kit to learn the instrument?
No, you will not need to purchase a drum kit as beginner students can use practice pads and drum sticks for home practice. In time it is a great idea to invest in a drum set as your skills develop and you’ll find that you’re more motivated to practice. We recommend checking out www.sweetwater.com for a great variety of drum set options.
